Cosmo's Challenge
Published mobile game — Apple App Store & Google Play
Overview
Cosmo's Challenge is a published mobile game available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. It is used for competitions at university events and tailgates. The player swipes up on their phone to throw a football at hoops for points and their high scores are sent to a leaderboard for the corresponding event.
My Role
I led debugging and maintenance efforts on the project, working directly in Unreal Engine 5 using Blueprints to identify and resolve issues across the codebase post release.
What I Learned
Working on this project taught me a lot about the process of shipping and maintaining a mobile game. I learned about certificate management, build signing, and all of the many guidelines in place to keep mobile apps secure. I also learned a lot about setting up good documentation, creating replicable bug reports, and strategies for debugging in Unreal.
Challenges
A recurring challenge was packaging errors when submitting to both stores, compatibility with newer devices was a frequent culprit. I did a lot of research for our team to be able to keep up to date with changes both on the store side as well as on the Unreal side.
This game was officially published on the Apple App Store and Google Play. As it has been some time since active development, availability on current devices may vary.
