Overview

This project involved designing and greyboxing a level set in the Chamber of Secrets, beginning from the bathroom featured in Hogwarts Legacy and extending to the innermost part of the Chamber. The goal was to create a believable, navigable space that respected the source material while functioning as an engaging game level.

My Role

I designed this level with a specific focus on wayfinding, spatial storytelling, sightlines, and pacing.

What I Learned

For this project I did a lot of research on what good level design looks like. I played through some of my favorite areas from Halo: Combat Evolved, Doom, and Hogwarts Legacy playing close attention to what made a space feel interesting.

Challenges

My biggest challenge on this project was getting the scale of the chamber right. In the films, the chamber feels grand and ancient while also maintaining a tense, claustrophobic vibe. I struggled with this at first, but was able to balance those feelings in my level by alternating between narrow corridors and expansive chambers to explore.
